About the author

Sean Delaney.  I am first and foremost a Christian, that is a follower of the Christ; born and raised a Roman Catholic who along the way,  in my search for God and His truth, discovered an evangelical church and a group of young pSean Delaneyeople who seemed to live their faith, and thus found myself believing that the Bible is the only truth and that all forms of ‘religion’ are mans feeble attempts to draw near to God, though some have meaning to others and I would not diminish that which draws another to Him who calls all to Himself.

I am also a family man; the husband of Mary Hope Holland, of whom it will be said, ’she who wears a crown with her former helpmates name upon it’.  She is special in o so many ways not the least of which is that she believes in me, although it has always perplexed me as to why this is so.   Even so, I am the father of six children, of which four have lasted the whole nine month process, while the other two God, in His infinite wisdom, decided He wanted home a wee bit early.  By all accounts, I do indeed have the wrinkles and gray hair to prove this said fatherhood has had a full compliment of ups and downs, and having survived to this point I can say that I am proud beyond any selfish pride of all four that I have known.

I am also a carpenter, that is a proud member of Carpenters Local 626, and a faithful worker at the Delaware City Refinery  since 1985.  If building scaffolds at an oil refinery was going to be a high profile enterprise in the Master’s great hereafter, well then I would be well prepared in the here and now.  As it is I count myself blessed to be a part of the same profession, albeit remote, as King Jesus Himself.

I have been blessed as a Sunday school teacher, a house church leader, and as an Evangelism Explosion discipleship leader, for you see discipling new believers is my passion; not unlike how some ladies seem to be in their element watching after babies; loving them, nurturing them, and helping them to learn, to grow.  In much the same way I love to help a new  Christian learn how to have a more meaningful relationship with God, in fact this book which I wrote screams this fact on every page.  If there were a place for scaffold building, grandfatherly disciplers, well then I would not have to do any brown-nosing to carve out an eternal niche for myself.

I am lastly, and I do mean this, a wannabe writer.  If God did not make me, well then I would be content as a Philadelphia sports fan and not something so far outside my comfort zone that it feels as if I am drowning in a pool of self pitying fears.  All that said, I obediently offer this story of the power of God and the presence of His servants to you as an offering of that power, and what it means to me.

May God Bless You and keep you until He returns in body and Spirit, or Maranatha,

Sean Delaney
